Getting started with Overtrace
Overtrace overlays industrial datalogs from multiple modules onto one shared time axis, entirely in your browser. This page gets you from a cold start to your first overlay in a couple of minutes.
The 30-second tour
Open the app and you'll see three regions: a channel sidebar on the left, a controls strip along the top, and the chart in the middle. Without a license, Overtrace loads two sample modules — “Compressor A — Unit 3” and “Gen Skid B — Unit 7” — so you can try everything on realistic data before buying.
- Open the demo from the site — the app loads with sample telemetry already plotted.
- In the left sidebar, tick channels from any module. The first two channels of the first module are enabled automatically so the chart isn't blank.
- Watch the ticked channels stack onto the same time axis. Channels from different modules plot together.
- Hover the chart to read exact values at the cursor, and drag across the chart to zoom into a window.
- Double-click the chart (or press “Reset zoom”) to return to the full view.
The demo runs on built-in sample data. To load your own logs you need a license — the upload button shows a lock icon until then. See Loading datalogs for details.

Do I need to install anything to use Overtrace?
No. Overtrace runs in any modern browser on desktop, laptop, or field tablet. There is nothing to install.
Can I try Overtrace before buying?
Yes. Without a license the app loads two sample modules so you can use every tool on realistic telemetry. A license unlocks loading your own logs.
