This Privacy Policy explains how AI Manuals LLC, a Texas limited liability company (“Overtrace,” “we,” “us,” or “our”), handles information in connection with the Overtrace website at overtrace.app and the Overtrace telemetry tool (together, the “Service”).
By using the Service, you agree to this Policy. This Policy is part of, and should be read together with, our Terms of Service.
Your telemetry datalogs never leave your browser. We do not upload, receive, or store the contents of the datalog files you open in Overtrace. There is no server endpoint that receives your telemetry data.
We collect only the limited account and billing information needed to run the Service (sign-in identity and payment/license records), handled by trusted providers.
We do not sell your personal information.
Overtrace parses and processes your datalog files (such as Emit, Excel, and Caterpillar formats) entirely within your web browser. The contents of those files:
Any files you open, and any annotations or measurements you create, remain on your own device unless you choose to save or export them yourself. You are responsible for the security and backup of your own files.
To provide accounts, licensing, and payments, we (through our service providers) collect:
When you sign up or sign in, our authentication provider (Clerk) processes information such as your name, email address, and login credentials. This lets us identify your account and associate your license with it.
We store records of your license (type, status, activation, and history) in our database (Supabase). This does not include your telemetry data.
Payments are processed by Stripe. We do not store your full payment card number. We receive limited billing metadata from Stripe (such as transaction status, amount, and the last four digits/card type) needed to manage your purchase and license.
If you contact us or we send you transactional messages (such as receipts and license/account notifications), we process your email address and message content. Transactional email is sent through our email provider (Resend).
Like most websites, our hosting and infrastructure providers may automatically log basic technical information (such as IP address, browser type, and timestamps) for security, performance, and abuse prevention. We may also keep limited audit logs of account and license actions.
We use the information above to:
We use your information only for these purposes and do not use your telemetry datalogs at all, because we never receive them.
We share limited information only with the service providers that make the Service work, and only as needed for them to perform their functions:
| Provider | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Clerk | Authentication / account identity |
| Stripe | Payment processing |
| Supabase | Database for license and account records |
| Vercel | Website hosting and delivery |
| Resend | Transactional email |
These providers process information on our behalf under their own terms and privacy policies. We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect our rights, or in connection with a business transfer (such as a sale of the Service). We do not sell your personal information.
The Service uses cookies or similar technologies that are necessary for sign-in, session management, and security (for example, to keep you logged in). We do not use them to sell your data. You can control cookies through your browser settings, though disabling essential cookies may prevent sign-in from working.
We keep account, license, and transaction records for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the Service, comply with legal and tax obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. Because we never receive your telemetry datalogs, there is nothing of that kind for us to retain.
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures, and rely on reputable providers, to protect the account and billing information we hold. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. A key benefit of Overtrace's design is that your sensitive telemetry data is not exposed to us at all.
The Service is intended for business and professional use and is not directed to children under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
The Service is operated from the United States. If you access it from elsewhere, your information may be processed in the United States, where privacy laws may differ from those in your location.
We may update this Policy from time to time. We will update the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, provide notice. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
